Creation

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
 

Abraham and Sarah

God promised to bless the whole world through Abraham and Sarah’s descendants.
 

Moses

Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, to freedom, and received the Ten Commandments from God.
 

Ruth and Naomi

Ruth showed great kindness to her mother-in-law, Naomi.
God rewarded her, and she became the great-grandmother of King David.
 

David

David was a shepherd boy who grew up to become Israel’s greatest king.  He wrote many of the Psalms in the Bible.
 

Elijah

Elijah was a prophet who told the Israelites to obey God.  He rode to heaven in a chariot of fire.
 

Thomas Cranmer

Thomas Cranmer was the Archbishop of Canterbury
who wrote the very first Book of Common Prayer.
 

Mary and Martha

Mary and Martha were sisters who were good friends of Jesus.  At Saint George’s, we are friendly, too.
 

Virgin Mary

Mary was the mother of Jesus. We call her “Mary, the Mother of God.”
 

Matthew

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are called the four Evangelists.  Each Evangelist has a special sign.
 

Mark

The Evangelists wrote the four Gospels, which tell us the Story of Jesus.
 

Luke

The word “gospel” means “good news.” Jesus is good news!
 

John

Jesus is good news because he brings us the love and forgiveness of God.
 

Saint George

Our church is named for George. He was a Roman soldier who believed in Jesus.
There is a legend about George rescuing a town from a fiery dragon.
 

Baptism of Christ

When Jesus was baptized, God spoke from heaven to tell him, “I love you.”
