On June
16th, I was named the Interim
Rector of St. George’s Episcopal Church
in Dayton. For the few weeks I
have been with St. George’s prior to my
appointment, I have had the privilege of
worshiping and visiting with the St.
George’s family. What a joy!
I
retired from the Philadelphia and moved
to the Dayton area to be near our
children and grandson, after having
served as a priest for 40 years.
Donna, my wife, is a special education
teacher, and we were blessed with two
fantastic children, Alexis and Adrien,
and their spouses, David Schweitzer and
Angie. The biggest blessing in our
lives is our grandson, Aiden James, who
was a year old the end of April.
Being retired was enjoyable, but
Almighty God had other plans for me, and
I accepted the call to serve St.
George’s as the Interim.
I was
born and raised in Iowa, attending the
University of Iowa and then Berkeley at
Yale for my divinity degree. I met
my wife while serving in Wisconsin, and
both our children were born there.
I have served Churches on the east coast
of Florida, in Cincinnati, and the west
coast of Florida before going to
Pennsylvania. Donna and I enjoy
our family, travel, and our home, which
is in Beavercreek. Having received
my Masters’ Degree in Education from the
University of Wisconsin, I have also
served as Headmaster of schools both in
Florida and Cincinnati. Having
lived in Cincinnati for 13 years, moving
to the Dayton area is like ‘coming
home.’
Hobbies
include our home, reading, walking,
swimming, and our cat and dog. I
am delighted to be with St. George’s
during this Interim period.
