Educating Our Children |
Nursery Care
Saint George's Nursery serves
infants and toddlers to age 3.
Volunteer caregivers assist the
paid nursery staff during Sunday
morning worship services and the
9:30 a.m. education hour.
The nursery has been recently
remodeled. A mural created
by one of the mothers features
the creation story and the hymn
"All Things Bright and
Beautiful." The
nursery is a wonderful place for
both the volunteers and their
small charges. |
Baptismal Preparation
The
sacrament of Baptism is offered
several times throughout the
year, usually the Sunday after
All Saints Day in November, the
Sunday after Epiphany in
January, during the Easter
season and on the Day of
Pentecost. It normally
takes place within the context
of the Holy Eucharist, usually
at the 10:30 Sunday service.
Private baptisms usually occur
only in the case of emergency.
Infants as well as adults may be
candidates for the sacrament.
Preparation is required for
adults and for the parents and
godparents of infants.

Sunday School
Programs are available for all
age groups from preschool though
high school. Volunteers
teach at the 9:30 a.m. education
hour and the 10:30 a.m. Sunday
School. Teachers meet together
periodically for training and
support.

Confirmation
The sacrament of Confirmation is
offered once each year during
the visitation of one of our
bishops. Carefully prepared for
through several sessions of
classes, a retreat, and
confirmation mentors, the Church
considers this rite "A Mature
Affirmation of the Faith" spoken
for infants at their Baptism,
and the beginning of a more
intentional lifelong quest for
God's will and purpose in their
life. Confirmands who were
baptized as adults re-affirm
their own Baptismal Covenant and
begin life in the congregation
with new opportunities (such a
the ability to serve on the
Vestry). Check the date of the next
Episcopal visitation at St.
George's on the website of the
Episcopal Diocese of Southern
Ohio, Visitation schedule. |
KIDS Page
A
special web page just for
kids,
KID'S Page
has coloring pages, stories and
activities. |
Vacation Bible School
For one week each summer, Saint
George's is transformed into an
exotic locale such as a beach or
a jungle or perhaps a circus.
In Vacation Bible School,
children learn of God's love for
us through stories and songs,
crafts and games (with a snack
thrown in for good measure)!
